Right by the sea

Skanör-Falsterbo is a jewel at the very far south-western corner of Sweden. Located right by the sea, nature has been shaped for millions of years to become the beautiful place it is today.

Many tourists and bathers who experience the beaches for the first time don’t understand how locals would ever want to leave this place for another! The sand is white and very, very fine-grained.

So, it’s well worth the effort to take a bath towel and lay down in the sand on a sunny summer day – but do not forget to go for a swim! The water is crystal clear and clean, with a wave ripple formed sand bottom. And the water can stay surprisingly warm long after summer has officially ended!

In the past, a trip to Skanör and Falsterbo could be very adventurous when crossing “Ljungen” (the land between Ljunghusen and Skanör/Falsterbo), which was constantly ravaged by windblown sand. Therefore, Skanör-Falsterbo was almost always visited by sea route.

In the Middle Ages, the herring came in such quantities that boats couldn’t take care of it all – at least if one believes the stories. At the same time, there was a power struggle between kings and the “Hansa” about revenues from trade. The battle between Denmark and Sweden about “Skåne” was largely based on the struggle for revenues from herring fishery. Because at this time, the herring was the major export product, due to the fact that the Catholic Church didn’t allow people to eat meat before the holidays and during the fast.

With three of the country’s premier golf clubs nearby – Falsterbo Golf Club, Flommens Golf Club and Ljunghusens Golf Club – Skanör is an excellent destination for playing golf.

You can book a golf package with us or visit the courses on site.

A short 10 minute drive from the hotel will get you to Fotevikens Museum. The museum offers visitors a unique insight into what life as a Viking in Skåne might have been like, with a reconstructed Viking town that has been rebuilt with a contemporary spirit.

Every year thousands of vikings from all over the world visit and live in this area.

It’s a historical and fun attraction for both young and old visitors!

Falsterbo Horse Show

For many, the name Falsterbo is associated with horses. This is perhaps not very surprising, as the international equestrian competition Falsterbo Horse Show is hosted here every summer.

It’s the year’s biggest event and attraction, which attracts tourists from all over Europe.

“Skåneleden” – a local hiking trail – offers you a lovely walk from Skanör to Falsterbo. It’s a fantastic trail to follow as it shows the best of the surrounding beaches, sea and nature.
